ABOUT

Alice has long been inspired by the beauty of the colours and textures that surround her.
Born in Tasmania, living in Newcastle during her teen years then finally onto Byron hinterland from her early 20’s until recently, provided much inspiration. It was during this time living in the hills of Bangalow, a beautiful little town around 15mins inland of Byron, Alice In Byron Creative was born.

A lover of making things for as long as she can remember, creativity has always been a part of her life.
As a young girl, she would braid bookmarks and run excitedly off down the street selling them to people she knew for extra pocket money. In later years she would try her hand at jewellery making, sewing and photography before finally discovering ceramics in 2017.

Having spent the majority of her working life in various cafes, predominantly as a barista, finding and practicing ceramics became a welcome pocket of quiet away from the everyday buzz of hospitality.

“The nature of throwing is such, that if you do allow your mind to wander, you risk ruining what you are creating. So, for me, almost more than anything else, this is my form of meditation”

Her pieces are all one of a kind, primarily wheel thrown, mindfully crafted in her little home studio and are only off site for their firings.

She is inspired by beautiful natural tones, earthy colours and loves the idea that a little piece of mud she has shaped might become your favourite coffee vessel.

“From its humble beginnings as a piece of earth right through to the cup holding your morning coffee- all by a single pair of hands”
